《應(yīng)用語言學(xué)》是揚州大學(xué)外國語學(xué)院的一門重要教學(xué)科目，外國語學(xué)院設(shè)有英語(師范)、翻譯、商務(wù)英語、日語、朝鮮語、法語、阿拉伯語、西班牙語8個本科專業(yè)、4個大學(xué)英語教學(xué)部、1個研究生公共外語教學(xué)部。英語(師范)、商務(wù)英語、日語、朝鮮語4個專業(yè)是江蘇省重點專業(yè)，英語在職研究生(師范)專業(yè)也是江蘇省特色專業(yè)。學(xué)院設(shè)有“中外語言文化比較與會通” 二級學(xué)科博士點;設(shè)有“外國語言文學(xué)”一級學(xué)科碩士學(xué)位點，下設(shè)“英語語言文學(xué)”、“外國語言學(xué)及應(yīng)用語言學(xué)”、“日語語言文學(xué)”、“法語語言文學(xué)”、“亞非語言文學(xué)”、“阿拉伯語語言文學(xué)”等六個二級學(xué)科碩士學(xué)位點。此外，還設(shè)有 “翻譯碩士”(MTI)專業(yè)學(xué)位點、“教育碩士”(Ed.
